Hot Glue Tips

Don’t underestimate the value of hot glue in the shop or on the job site.

You know that hot glue gun you’ve got tucked away in the corner cupboard?

You’re going to want to dust it off after watching this video.

One of the places I’ve used hot glue is in the install of plastic laminate back splashes. Put your carpenters glue on the splash, then some dabs of hot glue and hold it in place till the hot glue sets. No need to rig up some kind of pressure clamps.

It can also be used when paneling a wall, when you have a fussy customer who doesn’t want to see any puttied nail holes.

It makes a lot of sense if you have a small shop and have a number of machines to access.

The castors allowing it to be put off to the side out of the way frees up the center of the floor for assembling larger projects.

Here’s a image of the flip tops during construction.

How To Turn Rough Lumber Into Usable Wood

If You’ve Got The Time And Machines That’s The Most Inexpensive Way To Get Great Wood

Dressing or breaking down rough lumber is an important step to getting usable pieces of lumber to work with.

It’s a process that gives you straight true reference edges to use for further milling.

Without that straight true edge you will run into safety issues when for example you try to rip the piece on a table saw.
